GROW bundles the S/4HANA Public Cloud licence with SAP Business Technology Platform credits, SAP Build entitlements, Joule entitlements, the GROW Fast accelerator methodology and content, partner-delivered implementation, and ongoing SAP cloud operations — all under a unified commercial relationship rather than separate licences and infrastructure contracts. The product underneath is S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition; GROW is the way SAP and its partners package and sell it to net-new and replacement-ERP customers.

Different deployment models for different organisations. GROW is the right path for net-new SAP customers, mid-market organisations replacing NetSuite/Dynamics/Sage/QuickBooks/Oracle, fast-growing businesses, and any organisation willing to adopt SAP best practices rather than rebuild legacy customisations. RISE is the right path for complex enterprises, regulated industries with deep customisation investment, and existing ECC customers who need to preserve specific extensions. The wrong choice locks the wrong organisation into the wrong cost structure.

Clean core means the S/4HANA standard is left untouched, and all extensions are built side-by-side on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) using public APIs and the Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) — not as in-line ABAP modifications of SAP standard objects. That is what makes quarterly innovation cycles possible: SAP can ship upgrades without breaking customer extensions, because the extensions never touched standard code in the first place. You can absolutely add custom logic, build dashboards, integrate with non-SAP systems, and stand up specialised apps — they just live in BTP, governed by the same authorisation and audit framework as the core. The trade-off is honest: if your business genuinely needs deep in-line modifications of SAP standard processes, GROW is the wrong path and RISE is the right one. GROW Fast is SAP's accelerated implementation approach for S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition, built around a validated Minimum Viable Scope (SAP Finance Base and Supply Chain Base packages), the simplified SAP Activate methodology, and a prescriptive deployment pattern that compresses blueprint and design effort. The 40–60% time-to-value reduction and up-to-50% cost reduction figures are SAP's own programme benchmarks vs. traditional implementation — they are real for organisations whose scope genuinely fits the Minimum Viable Scope and who do not try to drag legacy customisations into a clean-core deployment.
